The story of Schaefer Companies begins in 1922 with Art Schaefer's vision of providing exceptional service. From its humble beginnings as the Well Co., which later evolved into Schaefer Crane Service, the company quickly established itself on the principles of unwavering customer service, a commitment to safety, and the relentless pursuit of a job well done. This family-owned and operated business has since blossomed into a multi-faceted organization, encompassing Schaefer Well Co., Schaefer Crane Service, and most recently, Schaefer Contracting.

For over a century, Schaefer Well Co. has been a trusted provider of water well drilling, pump repair, and pump sales to both residential and commercial clients, offering 24/7 availability for immediate service. Schaefer Well Co., licensed with the Minnesota Department of Health and a proud member of the Minnesota Water Well Association, continues its legacy of dedication and service to municipal, residential, and commercial clients alike.

Schaefer Crane Service operates a fleet of 40 to 350-ton cranes, with NCCCO certified operators and riggers holding Rigger Certification, ensuring safe and reliable lifting solutions.

In 2021, Ryan Bauer and Derek MacHolda launched Schaefer Contracting, expanding the company's expertise to include millwright and general contracting services for industrial and commercial clients ranging from repairs to design-build new construction.
